Rockabilly was a combination of country music combined with rhythm and blues and rock and roll starting around the early 1950’s. The name itself states the combinations of Rock and “Hillbilly” music, which was not taken a compliment. When the term first came about, Musicians of this style thought felt they were being called hillbillies.
Rockabilly was also influenced by western swing, boogie-woogie, jump blues, and electric blues. The style incorporated the sounds of echo, reverb or slap back and often has the sound of a stand up bass. Sometimes the singing can be include a country yodeling style.
